MS Medical Cannabis Telehealth visits NOW available for Homebound Patients
Homebound patients:
Patients between 18-25 years old typically require certification from two practitioners from separate practices; however, this is waived for homebound individuals.
Mississippi allows for certifications for homebound patients to be issued following a telemedicine assessment. This means the initial in-person visit requirement can be bypassed for homebound individuals.
Caregiver for homebound patients:
A homebound patient may designate a caregiver to assist them, especially if they are unable to visit a dispensary.
Caregivers must be at least 21 years old (unless the patient's parent or guardian), registered with the state, and cannot have certain felony convictions.
If a patient requires more than one caregiver due to age or condition, documentation must be provided.
Caregivers may purchase, acquire, possess, deliver, prepare, and administer medical cannabis to the patient, but cannot consume or sell it.
Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries are authorized to deliver medical cannabis directly to nursing homes, hospitals, and other care facilities for homebound patients.
